A Place to Grow: Help Finish the Leadership Academy of Uganda
Most of us can remember walking into a place that changed what we believed was possible: a classroom where a teacher saw our potential, a church where our faith became personal, a library that opened a wider world, or a mentor’s office where a new path came into focus.
A building does not create a leader. But the right place—filled with the right people, tools, and purpose—can give leadership room to grow.
Right now, that kind of place is rising near Gulu, Uganda. The new Leadership Academy of Uganda will equip young men and women through rigorous academics, leadership development, entrepreneurship training, and Christ-centered discipleship. With construction well underway, 4africa is inviting partners like you to help complete the campus and welcome its first class in 2027.

From Open Land to a Place of Possibility
A few years ago, the future campus was open land surrounded by prayer. Today, classrooms and gathering spaces are taking shape. Plans include a main hall, STEM center, library, computer lab, classrooms, dormitories, and other spaces where students will learn, live, worship, and grow together.
Each space has a practical purpose. A computer lab creates access to technology. A STEM center makes hands-on learning possible. A library gives students quiet space to research and write. Classrooms become places where future entrepreneurs, educators, ministry leaders, and public servants learn to lead with both competence and character.
This campus is not just a collection of buildings. It is the foundation for relationships: students learning beside one another, teachers recognizing potential, mentors asking hard questions, and young adults discovering how their God-given abilities can serve others.

Why a Second Leadership Academy Matters
The Leadership Academy of Uganda builds on a model that is already producing fruit.
Since the Leadership Academy of South Sudan opened in 2014, 4africa has equipped 456 graduates. Today, 71% of graduates serve in formal leadership roles, and alums have launched more than 55 businesses that have created over 150 jobs.
Those numbers tell a larger story. Students do not complete the Academy and disappear from the program. After graduation, they join the LEAD Network, where they can receive continued mentorship, career guidance, internship and job-placement support, trauma and relationship counseling, and help pursuing university, vocational training, or entrepreneurship. Graduates also mentor younger students, allowing leadership to multiply from one class to the next.
The Uganda campus will extend that opportunity to more young adults. The Academy plans to begin with 60 students—30 women and 30 men—and grow annual student intake to 120. Every new place represents a person with the potential to influence a family, build a business, strengthen a church, serve a community, or mentor another emerging leader.

For someone in the United States, giving to a project thousands of miles away can feel abstract. The Leadership Academy of Uganda makes that partnership tangible—but the buildings are only the beginning.
This is not about importing an American solution or asking outside donors to lead indefinitely. 4africa believes Africans are best equipped to address African challenges when they have access to the right tools, training, and opportunities. Its long-term vision is for leadership, operations, oversight, and funding to rest in African hands.
That is what makes this investment different. You are not stepping in to take a young leader’s place. You are helping create a place where that leader can prepare to step fully into it.
The First Major Finish Line in Build to LEAD
The new Academy is a cornerstone of Build to LEAD, 4africa’s comprehensive campaign through June 2031. Over the next five years, the campaign will invest in three connected areas: LEAD Academies, ongoing LEAD Network support, and the people and systems required for long-term, African-led sustainability.
Finishing the Uganda campus is an urgent milestone within that larger vision. The first class is preparing to arrive, construction is advancing, and generous supporters have already funded more than half of the $7.2 million goal. Now, $3.2 million is needed by December to complete construction and open on time.
