Investing in Discipled Nation Builders
Born in the shadows of an obscure village, Bismarck Yengi’s early years were marked by a scarcity of opportunities and hope. Yet, God had plans that would help him far surpass the limitations of his circumstances.
In the absence of parents, a compassionate widow took Bismarck under her wing, becoming not only a guardian but a beacon of light in his life. With her support, Bismarck’s education journey began at the age of 9, a journey that would include a daily trek of more than 6 miles in pursuit of the knowledge that would eventually transform his life.
The obstacles Bismarck faced were formidable. His living conditions alone mirrored the challenges he overcame. In the face of adversity, it was the kindness of his friends that showed through. They selflessly shared their food to save Bismarck embarrassment during meals. Yet, outside of the kindness of a few, he was shunned by many, existing as an outcast among his peers.
It was during his time at the Leadership Academy of South Sudan (LASS) when his days were no longer marked by tears, rejection, and despair. Armed with borrowed clothing, he embarked on a new chapter, driven by an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. His upbringing fueled his determination to seek justice. He aspired to become a lawyer in South Sudan, aiming to bring positive change to his community and country. Through a scholarship from 4africa, Bismarck’s academic journey began with two years at LASS, followed by four years at Uganda Christian University, which led to a prestigious Law Development Center.
He graduated from the bar and is ready to serve his people. From walking barefoot to donning the attire of an advocate, his journey epitomizes the power of faith and resilience.
“My story stands as a testament that God can reshape one’s destiny from darkness to brilliance when we place our trust in Him. As I look back on my journey, I am forever grateful to 4africa for the sacrifice in giving me an opportunity to become a lawyer. May God reward the efforts of the supporters abundantly.”
Recently, he was offered a law internship with a reputable firm in Juba, fulfilling what he has dreamt of—to impact his community by educating and representing them, and assisting the oppressed throughout South Sudan.
Bismarck’s journey is a testament to the potential that lies within each individual, waiting to be unlocked through the power of education, determination, and the unwavering belief that a better future is possible, no matter where one begins.
